ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founders Group Convener of Akbar S Babar said people of Pakistan were hugely disappointed with the politics of the sit-ins of Imran Khan.
Talking to APP, he said the party that claimed to end corruption from the country has itself indulged in malpractices. He urged Imran to hold leaders of his party accountable to know how they became owners of large assets. He said many senior leaders of PTI will soon join Founders Group.
He said people refused to join recent Ehtesab march of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as they were disappointed with the politics of slogans of Imran. He said Imran should not go for the sit-ins but take steps for development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so that people could support him on the basis of his performance.
He said corruption has reached its height in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and contracts and development funds were given to favourites. He pointed that there were leaders of the PTI who had nothing when they came into the PTI fold but then they became rich fast.
To a question, Babar said Imran Khan is surrounded by land and loan mafia and those who changed loyalties for personal interests. He said, “we want that party constitution should be followed and party should be cleaned of corrupt elements.” The disappointed and estranged workers of the party would be made active, he said adding those persons who pointed out corruption in the PTI, were ousted from the party.
Babar said he has provided proof of embezzlement in party funds to the Election Commission and “we are hopeful that decision will come in our favour.” To a question, he said they intend to file an application in the Election Commission for securing electoral symbol of bat for Founders Group.
To a question, he said it was wrong to allege that he had the support of Pakistan Muslim League-N. He said he wanted that the PTI should be run according to the basic manifesto of the party and said they supported democracy and independent accountability and these slogans can only be implemented when party begins process of self-accountability.
He said a political vacuum was created in Karachi after the anti-Pakistan statements of Altaf Hussain and the PTI could have filled the void but it even failed in this due to wrong policies. When a PTI spokesman was phoned to get his version on the statement of Akbar S Babar, nobody responded.
