PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed heads of all provincial departments for chalking out efficient planning for the not-in-use land owned by their departments to increase revenue of the province to make the departments self-generating and self-sufficient.
This he said while presiding over a high-level meeting convened to deliberate over raising of provincial revenue at the CM House on Monday. The chief minister directed heads of the departments for early identification and proper utilization of the state owned land for commercial purpose to increase provincial revenues.
He also ordered hiring of consultants and constitution of management committees in each department for this purpose. He directed to give final touches to the process till June in this regard. He also appointed Relief Secretary Ahmad Hanif Orakzai as incharge to monitor the projects to be chalked out for utilization of the state assets for revenue generating purpose.
He directed to keep all the process transparent and according to rules. He also directed for initiating necessary legislation to make the project workable. He ordered auction of obsolete machinery stored in the mechanical workshop of the Irrigation Department. Moreover, he asked authority concerned for planning construction of multi-storey building on the sites of the workshop.
Similarly, he asked to complete small project in one year and big project in a period of 15 months. Targets for revenue generation for various departments were also fixed in the meeting. The Department of Communications and Works was asked to generate two billion rupees while for the Agriculture Department one billion rupees, Environment Department 600 million, Industry Department two billion, Mine and Mineral Department 2.2 billion, local government department two billion, irrigation department one billion, Peshawar Development Authority six billion, excise department 14 billion and Auqaf Department Rs 500 million was determined to generate.
Besides Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Sherpao, Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed, Education Minister Mohammad Atif, Adviser for Communication and Works Akber Ayub, Adviser for Planning and Development Mian Khaliqur Rehman, additional chief secretary and administrative secretaries of the departments concerned attended the meeting.
