MULTAN: Police arrested a 36-year-old woman here on Thursday for throwing acid on a man who allegedly refused her marriage proposal.
According to the police, the woman reportedly called the 24-year-old youth to her house, threw acid on him and fled.
Investigations show the woman was angry with the victim because he allegedly refused her marriage proposal. She was however arrested on Thursday, police said. At least 50 per cent of the body of the victim was burnt in the acid attack and he was shifted to Nishtar Hospital where police recorded his statement.
The victim’s father said the woman was already married and had four children, but she still wanted to marry his son.
“He (the victim) promised me he will marry me and we planned that I will divorce my husband and leave my children with him. After that, he will marry me,” the woman told the police. “We were arguing for over a month and his constant refusal to marry me infuriated me. As a result, I threw acid on him,” she added.
