GHOTKI: At least eight people apprehended in Ghotki for allegedly kidnapping people and extracting money from them.
The modus operandi of the gang was to ape the voice of a female to entice their victims with conversations over cell phone. They had been able to charm and kidnap several unsuspecting people. Sources said that the security personnel launched a crackdown against these criminal elements.
Police said that the detainees were absconders and were wanted in several cases. They also revealed that the arrested criminals were living in Rangpur for quite long time and held various kidnappings for ransom.
